IOWA'S SENSUOUS CZECH VISIONARY,
SISTER KASI

Dear Kasi,

I understand that it is now possible to purchase melatonin over the counter. Do you advise use of this drug in magical pursuits?

     Smart Shopper in Tabor

     Dear Smart Shopper,

Scientists are still looking into the effects of melatonin. For those of you out there who are unfamiliar, melatonin is a potent hormon secreted by the brain's pineal gland, sometimes referred to as "the Third Eye." This gland is located between the eyes in the center of the forehead and is often ascribed a mystical purpose. The pineal gland is the body's time clock and compass, and when fully developed can see the true light of creation and will guide the spirit back to the place of its origin. The over the counter hormone supplement you mention (approved in 1994) is reported to aid with sleep problems, jet lag, and some claim it can prolong life and improve sex. Preliminary studies indicate that improper doasages can actuall make the problems you might take it for worse rather than better. High doses may actually diminish sex drive in men and may induce a type of breast cancer.

For myself, I bly disapprove of shortcuts to power. Part of the prolonged ritual and struggle to achieve power is to impart the wisdom necessary to wield that power. I would advise finding instead of a druggist ignorant of the power of the pineal, a true spiritualist who can aid you in naturally tapping into this important sensory organ and learning to unleash the melatonin already waiting there for your use.

     Dear Sister,

     What is Sex Magic?

Too Shy to Talk About It in Marshaltown

     Dear Too Shy,

Sex and Magic have always been linked, but the specific term was popularized by Anton LeVey in his books on magic and Satanism. The idea is that during acts of carnality tremendous energies are created and then pour out into the world at the point of orgasm. Indeed, it may be the very creation of these energies which infuse newly concieved life with the "life-force" which we recognize as being seperate and apart from the mere combination of organic elements which create a new body. LeVey contended that by focusing these energies with incantations during the act, the release of those energies in orgasm gives the spell extra power. This type of magic should be practiced with partners who are aware of what is going on, they should consent that casting be the purpose of the sexual act, and approached with singleminded seriousness.

Outside the uses in ritual magic, simply becoming aware of the tremendous energies created and released during sex will allow that energy to be partially focused inward and upward rather than outward, creating over time an ability to experience greater pleasure. You will soon be able to have a total body orgasm, never felt before as a result of normal sex. I recommend the book Healing Love through the Tao: Cultivating Female Sexual Energy, by Mantak Chia and Maneewan Chia.

     Kasi,

I have a friend who collects Amaranth and other herbs, and she wants a bed made out of sticks. What the heck is the deal?

     Confused Cad in Iowa City

     Dear Cad,

First of all, what do you care what her bed is made out of? I can tell by your attitude you aren't likely to get within a hundred feet of it. Amaranth is a flower which never fades, and symbolizes immortality. Your "friend" is probably attracted to the plant because it reflects her own ability to persevere and withstand time, ill weather, and the occasional abrasive presence of foolish and neglectful cads.
