The Fulton family, with twelve listed generations, is no exception, and therefore, in an effort to ease the strain of reading this volume, I thought it only fair to let you know right up front how it is organized.

• This is a working site. You won't see any "Under Construction" signs, but each page will contain a date indicating when it was last updated. Additional family members and information will be added as rapidly as possible, but please remember that we are working with at least 1500 names and hundreds of photographs, maps, etc. (And that's before you send us your information!)

  For ease of reference, all "like" pages will have the same background graphic. The pages are divided a follows:

  1. Division Pages (the Home Page and Photograph Album -- for right now, more will be added)
  2. General Information (including the page you are reading now and the Background Information page).
  3. Indicies
  4. Generations 1 and 2: Earlier Fultons
  5. Generation 3: A genealogical listing for each member of the generation (by family), Individual's pages and their histories
  6. Generation 4: A genealogical listing for each member of the generation (by family), Individual's pages and their histories
  7. Generation 5: A genealogical listing for each member of the generation (by family), Individual's pages and their histories

• For those of us who really like indices, I have included a "Table of Contents" which links to each page in the site, an "Index Of Names" which is an immediate link to the primary page on which the person listed appears and a "Special Index" which will link to things like maps, old letters, etc. Additional indices will be added as the need arises.

• The first page for each individual will be in list form, including basic historical information about that person. In cases where additional information is available... newspaper clippings, funeral folders, etc., an icon (a tree lined lane) will appear in the center of the page in the Generation--- space. Clicking on that icon will link you to the additional data. A click on the "Back" icon on the history page will return you to the individual's page.

• I'm a great believer in links and have attempted to include enough of them to be helpful, but not so many that you have no idea which to use. Additional links will be added as additional family information is available.

• Some pages will include notes crediting those persons who have been helpful in providing information. Genealogists appreciate all the help we can get and are delighted to give thanks where it is due.

• Rather than display the graphic artists'logos on each page of the site, the artists' names will be listed at the bottom of the page and linked to the Graphic Artists Index. If you wish to see the logos and/or view the artist's home page, simply click on his or her logo and you will be linked to that site.

So welcome to our Fulton Family web site, we hope that you find it informative and enjoyable and will share any information that you might have with us so that it can be included in these pages.
