Election Day Registration

Please join us in thanking Iowa’s Secretary of State Michael Mauro and his staff for taking a stand to make our democracy more open and accessible by supporting the Election Day Registration bill in the Iowa statehouse.

The Iowa Citizen Action Network (ICAN) is working with legislative leaders in the House and Senate and with the Iowa Secretary of State’s office to draft Election Day Registration (EDR) legislation. This is very reasonable voter registration policy, and is currently in effect in two of Iowa’s neighboring states, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

This is a great opportunity to help underrepresented populations voice their vote and, in the process, to change the dynamic of power in our state.

Please mail or email your thank you letter to:

The Honorable Michael Mauro
Secretary of State
1007 East Grand Avenue
Room 105, State Capitol Des Moines, IA 50319

“Dear Secretary Mauro…”

When you communicate with the Secretary of State’s office, use your own words, but tell them Election Day Registration (EDR) is an issue you support.

  • Thank Secretary of State Michael Mauro and Deputy Secretary of State Linda Langenberg for their leadership on this bill to allow Election Day voter registration.
  • Tell them that you are happy they are working hard to make the most fundamental right we have in our democracy – voting – accessible to anyone who is eligible to participate.
  • Explain why this issue is important to you.

Be sure to give them your name, address, phone number!

Thank you for taking action on this right away! Let us know that you have done so by calling or emailing Amy Logsdon, ICAN Political Director at 319-354-8116 or ALogsdon@IowaCAN.org

Contact her if you want to learn more about or get more involved in this campaign for Election Day Registration.

Thank you for participating in our democracy. Your actions will help build momentum to make real change here in the state to help as many people as possible vote their voice and voice their vote.
